Superintendent's Message

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to the Bryant School District’s web page. It is our hope that you will find this site to be both helpful and informative as you explore our district. Our staff has gone to great lengths to anticipate the needs of those seeking information about our District and have tried to meet those needs. Any feedback that you may have concerning our web page is always appreciated.

Bryant has been recognized as one of the fastest growing communities in Arkansas, and that growth has certainly been reflected in our district. During the 2005-2006 school year our enrollment was approximately 6,850 students. According to the State Department of Education projections concerning our district, that number is expected to continue to grow over the next ten years.

With growth comes challenges, and Bryant is no different than any other district in that regard. However, the tremendous amount of community support that the District receives has allowed us to implement excellent programs for our children. Groups ranging from PTO’s to Booster Clubs, all play an extremely important role in helping the Bryant School District meet our motto to "Educate, Motivate, and Challenge” our students. Just one example of this tremendous support was the last millage proposal, which passed with overwhelming approval. This tax increase is allowing our district to construct state of the art facilities, while maintaining a millage rate that is below the state average. Included in those projects will be Bethel Middle School and Hurricane Creek Elementary School located on Alcoa Road. Both of these facilities make use of “green” technology and are receiving national attention for their design elements that are both academically and economically proven.

Our staff, children, their parents and our community all work together in a collaborative effort to make sure that Bryant remains a great place to live, raise kids, and receive a quality education. Again, welcome to our web page, and if my office can be of assistance to you, please do not hesitate to contact us at 501-847-5600.

Sincerely,

Dr. Richard Abernathy
